James C. Ross, 90, of Campbellsville, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013. Mr. Ross was born in Ohio County on March 2, 1923, to the late Chester D. Ross and Eula Mae Addington Ross.

He served his country honorably during World War II and the Korean War having earned the rank of Major in the United States Army. He professed his faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church. He retired as a soil conservationist with the United States Department of Agriculture.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Fay Roeder Ross on Oct. 16, 1986; one brother, Rayburn Ross and one sister, Agnes Coffman. 

Survivors include one son, Richard Ross (Mary Lou Fay) of Douglasville, Ga.; one daughter, Donna Ross Carter (Joe) of Frankfort; six grandchildren, Shannon Carpenter (James) of Louisville, Andrea Cummins (Will) of Frankfort, Faith Ann Ross Moffett of Douglasville, Ga., Margaret-Ann Ross Melvin (Alan) of Townsend, Ga., Steven Ross of Arizona and Robert Ross of Cheyenne, Wyo.; seven great-grandchildren, Travis Carpenter, Arianna Carpenter, Carter Cummins, Elise Moffett, Aidyn Woodruff, Carol-Ann Melvin and James Melvin; a special friend, Iva Jean DeWitt of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and as host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. EST Friday, Dec. 20, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville, with Dr. James Jones and Dr. Mike O’Neal officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. CST on Friday, Dec. 20, at Central Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County. Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements.
