Maurine England May died peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Belfair Gardens, in Bluffton, S.C. She was comforted in her passing by her son, Doug, daughter-in-law, Jane, granddaughter, Carrie, and her husband, Fabrizio. She was 90 years old, born June 3, 1923 in Centertown, Ky.
She was one of eight children of Raymond and Flora Brown England of Centertown.
She graduated from Centertown High School and married Marshall Dean May in 1942. They lived many different places until his death in 1996. She then moved to Florida and later to South Carolina to be near her son, Douglas, and daughter-in-law, Jane. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Her sister Mary Emma Carter and her brothers, Woodrow, Clifton, Floyd and Boyce predeceased her as did her husband Marshall Dean May.
She is survived by her sister Annie Bishop of Livermore, Ky., and brother Arthur (Kayo) England of Bothell, Wash. She is also survived by her sons Gregory (Judy) and Douglas (Jane), granddaughter Carrie May Argueta (Fabrizio), grandson Jeffrey May (Donna), and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Alexandra.
Arrangements are being made by Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Graveside services will be held at Centertown Cemetery on Thursday, December 12 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
