Olen Smith, 86, of Beaver Dam, passed away, Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at his home. He was born July 17, 1927, in Harlan, Ky., to the late Bill Gillum and Ophia Smith.
He was a retired coal miner from Peabody Coal Company and was of Pentecostal faith.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irma J. Irvin Smith; his son, Greg Irvin and two brothers, Elvis Smith and Joseph Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Eva (Robert) Sailing of Greenville and Ophia Smith of Beaver Dam; two sons, Butch (Mary Ann) Smith of Beaver Dam and Carlos (Margaret) Smith of Cumberland, Ky., 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Mine Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
