NaomiThomasNaomi Estelle Thomas, 92, of Echols, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Ohio County Hospital. She was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Claude and Millie Minton Burden.

She was a member of Pond Run Baptist Church and was the owner and operator of Thomas General Merchandise. She was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School and was a member of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Millie Minton Burden; her husband, Alvin Leon “A.L.” Thomas; three brothers, Cleo Burden, Billy Burden and Dr. Jimmy Burden; one sister, Evelyn Crume and one grandson, Kenneth Mercer.

Survivors include four sons, Dale Thomas of Owensboro, Steve Thomas of Tampa, Florida, Mike (Sheila) Thomas of Echols and Jerry (Diana) Thomas of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Sharon Mercer of Evansville, Ind., and Sue (Mike) Sampson of Morganfield; three sisters, Anna Rae Fulkerson of Echols, Edna Mae Hawkins of Bowling Green and Jeanette Taylor of Echols; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Burden of Hartford and Ann Burden of Echols, 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Alton Crowe officiating. Burial will be in Echols Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
