Laverna McHenry, 91, of Hartford passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at the Beaver Dam Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Larkin Hines and Eva Chapman Hines.
Mrs. McHenry was a homemaker and a member of Alpha Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis McHenry on March 20, 1998, and two daughters, Barbara Seaborn and Sandra McHenry.
Survivors include three sons, Donald McHenry of Lawrenceville, Ga.; Otis Jerry McHenry (Annetta) of Jacksonville, Fla.; Richard McHenry (Doris) of Hartford; one daughter, Dianne McHenry Carson of Cal; 10 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Eva Ann Phipps of Evansville, Ind., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at the Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Bishop Robert Randolph officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford.
