Geneva Sanders, 92, of Centertown, passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Professional Care Health & Rehab Center. She was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Wister, Okla., to the late Lonnie Winferd Shipley and Edna Bullard Shipley.
Mrs. Sanders retired from Lever Brothers in Hammond, Ind., after many years of service and was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church. She enjoyed knitting, the outdoors and especially gardening.
She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Wayne Martin on Nov. 9, 1997.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Chuck Sanders of Centertown; one daughter, Patricia Ann Rearden (Carroll) of Hartford; three grandchildren, Debra Anderson (Tim) of Calvert City, Ky., Lisa Honig (Scott) of Lombard, Ill., and Micheal Wayne Martin of Plainfield, Ill.; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Pastor Tim Smith officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Patterson Cemetery in Ohio County.
