Mattie Lee Gray Hoover, 87, of New Athens, Ill., formerly of Hartford, Ky., passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill. She was born June 2, 1926, to the late Tilman Gray and Beatrice Wallace Gray in Ohio County.
Mrs. Hoover was formerly employed by Ken-Rad in Owensboro and Montpelier Glove Factory as a Seamstress. She was a member of Beulah Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Church Women’s Guild and a former member of Beda Homemakers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Hoover on Feb. 14, 1985; one son, Forrest Jay “Tim” Hoover on May 10, 1978, and one brother, W.T. Gray on Jan. 11, 2002.
Survivors include: one son, Javie Hoover (Paula) of New Athens, Ill.; one daughter, Becky Blomenkamp (Gregg) of Freeburg, Ill.; five grandchildren, Stephanie Schatte (Daniel), Keri Diefenback (Rudy), Tammy Heinecke (Ryan), Beth Hoover (Justin Roland) and Abby Hoover and nine great-grandchildren, Brandon and Morgan Schatte, Breanna and Jordyn Diefenbach, Baleigh and Harlow Heinecke, Tyce Hoover and Quintin and Payton Roland.
Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Miller- Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky. with Rev. Mike Justice officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Beulah Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
