Harold Ross Tichenor born April 3, 1944, in the Heflin Community of Ohio County to the late Lee Ross “Jack” and Ruth Foster Tichenor, went home to the Lord, Sunday April 18, 2013.
Harold was a 25 year veteran of the U.S. Navy where he ranked as a Chief Petty Officer.
In his 25 years of service, he was priviledged to tour the world on the USS Mills during Operation Deep Freeze and sailed the USS New Jersey for a tour in Vietnam. Harold also retired from TVA, was a life long fan of the Kentucky Wildcats. Harold was most proud of his 150-acre farm they have owned in the Prentiss community for over 40 years. He had the most caring heart and genuinely loved every person he met, and his country. He will be dearly missed by all.
He and Markeda Geary Tichenor have four daughters he adored and that adored him also, Stacey Tichenor, Janie (Lee Lambert) Tichenor, Farrah Tichenor Belhasen and Niki (Wes) Riley. The true loves of Harold’s life were his grandchildren, Brittany and Landon Spurlock, Grayson Belhasen, Lelia Fleener, Parker Culbertson and Prentiss Riley. Harold dearly loved all of his brothers and sisters Betty (Bob) Johnson, Jackie (Phyllis) Tichenor, Willie (Dee Dee) Tichenor, Bruce Tichenor, Brook Tichenor, Mary Ruth (Walt) Beasley, the late Bob Tichenor and his wife Shelia Tichenor and Bess (Paul) Ralph.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Greg Hillard officiating. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Ohio County Honor Guard will have military rites at the funeral home.
The family ask that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Wesley Phelps Ohio County Honor Guard. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
