Frank Cleveland, 87, of Hartford, Ky., died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born Dec. 17, 1925, in Vinita, Okla., to the late Lawrence Virgil Cleveland and Myrtle Ford Cleveland.
Mr. Cleveland retired from Alcoa Aluminum in Newburgh, Ind. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, was a lifetime member of VFW and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a former member of Ohio County Saddle Club, United Steel Workers of America Local #104 of Newburgh. He enjoyed trail riding, horses and mules, farming, and spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores Jean Cleveland on July 11, 2012; a twin sister, Merl Cravens; a sister, Stella McFerron and a brother, Virgil Cleveland.
Survivors include one son, Galen F. Cleveland and his wife, Mary Ann, of Hartford; one daughter, Sharon F. Howard and her husband, Roger of Utica; three grandsons, Michael Cleveland (Shannon), Franklin Burton (Tammy) and Jason Cleveland (Beth); five great-grandchildren, Devon Cleveland, Austin Burton, Abigail Burton, Gauge Cleveland and Gunner Cleveland; one sister, Claudetta Hall of Weir, Kan.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. at the Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, KY with Mr. Roger King and Bro. Mike Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford, Ky. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
