Edwin Randall Sheffield, 72, of Centertown passed away, Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at his residence. He was born June 9, 1941, in Centertown to the late Harold Ray “Tooter” and Geneva Addington Sheffield.

He was a member of Centertown Baptist Church, a retired postal employee, and a farmer. He was active in local politics, serving one term as Third District magistrate of Ohio County. He enjoyed collecting and restoring antique farm machinery. He was happiest telling tall tales to and about family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved sister Dorothy Lou Render.

Mr. Sheffield is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bertha Allen Sheffield and three children Edwina, Mark and Kimberly. These children provided him with the following wonderful families: Edwina Sheffield and Harley; Mark, Melony, Matthew, Christy and Toby Sheffield; Kimberly, Jerry and Josh Vender; Eric, Sara, Cody and Skye Vender; Ashley, Garrett and Remington Beasley; Mr. Sheffield has two sisters, Elaine Tichenor and Karen Bundy; brother-in-law, Randy Render; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Kathy Allen. Numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at Lone Star General Baptist Church Cemetery near Centertown, with Matthew Sheffield (grandson) officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. THERE WILL BE NO VISITATION ON SUNDAY.

At the request of Mr. Sheffield expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Lone Star Cemetery Fund or Waltons Creek Cemetery fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
