Donald C. Walker, 79, formerly of Horse Branch, died Tuesday Aug. 13, 2013, in Chicago, IL. Donald was born Jan. 19, 1934, in Horse Branch, Ky., son of the late Jack and Mamie Powers Walker.
He was a signal engineer for Illinois Central Gulf Railroad (CN) for 44 years. He also served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the United States and Europe.
Donald was a founding member and coach of Small Fry Basketball, an international youth basketball tournament organization, as well as a long-time manager of Little League Baseball. Donald was also a honorary member of the Shriner’s organization.
He was preceded in death also by sisters, Marguerite Walker, Eloise Crume, Reba J. Lynch and brother William C. Walker.
Survivors include his wife Jeneane Walker of Homewood, Ill.; daughter Tracey Walker and granddaughter Ashley Chapman of Homewood, Ill.; son Gregory (Catherine) Walker of Chicago, Ill., and brother Jerrold (Maxine) Walker of Highland, Ind.
Graveside services will be Friday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. in the Horse Branch Cemetery with Rev. Ernest Whitely officiating. Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam will be in charge of arrangements.
