Marvin Ray Casteel, 83, of Hartford died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Professional Care Health & Rehab. He was born April 1, 1930, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Henry Casteel and Lida Beatrice Gott Casteel.
Mr. Casteel was a Heavy Equipment Operator at Green Coal Company and a farmer. He was a member and deacon of Centertown Tabernacle. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Ellen Boling Casteel on Jan. 22, 2011, and two grandsons, Steven Whitely on Oct. 1, 2008, and Ray Casteel on April 20, 2005.
Survivors include three sons, Marion Ray Casteel of Centertown, Timothy Neal Casteel and his wife, Carolyn Marie, of Hartford and Dudley William Casteel of Beaver Dam; two daughters, Patricia Faye Whitely and her husband, Larry, of Olaton and Alisha Faye Robertson and her husband, Doug, of Pleasant Ridge; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Bro. Marty Bowlds officiating. Burial will follow in Patterson Cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
