DonGivensDonald Ray Givens, 75, of Centertown, took the hand of Jesus and went to his beautiful Heavenly Home Monday, July 15, 2013. He was at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with his loved ones, his best friend, Bobby; brother, Benny and sister, Linda. He was born March 4, 1938, in McHenry to the late Everett Lee and Delia Miller Givens.

He graduated from Central Park High School in McHenry, served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea and was a member of Hartford Baptist Church. Don started working in Beaver Dam at Houchens Grocery where he worked for many years until he retired. Don was so good and kind, he was happy and loved everyone. He loved to cook, go on trips, he loved his home and yard, growing flowers and his cat Jasmine.

He was preceded in death by his wife Roberta Watkins, a stepdaughter-in-law, Teresa Watkins and two sisters, Irene Davis Swanson and Juanita Givens Brown.

Survivors include his best friend and companion, Bobby Brown of Centertown; brothers, Clarence B. “Bennie” and Hazel Givens of Utica, Everett (Eugene) Givens, Jr. of Muskegon, Mich.; sisters, Linda Givens Duncan Hampton and husband Brownie of McHenry, Lois Givens Ferguson of Waynesboro, Tenn., and Lillian Givens Stratton of Muskegon, Mich.; two stepsons, Jerry Watkins and his wife Deena of Florida and Charles McCollum and his wife Katie of Kentucky.

Services are 2:30 p.m. Friday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Rodney Albin officiating. Burial will be in Centertown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until funeral time on Friday.
