Eric Wallace ‘Buck’ Whitfield

BuckWhitfieldEric Wallace “Buck” Whitfield, 54, of Greenville, Ky., died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. He was born May 10, 1959, in Hopkins County, Ky., to Anna Marie Robards Ferguson and the late Wallace Whitfield.

He was employed at Oxford Resources in Central City but had been a coal miner for 34 years for several mines. He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father Wallace Bruce Whitfield on May 1, 1977.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia “Ginger” Wilson Whitfield of Greenville, Ky.; three sons, Eric Nicholas “Nick” Whitfield and his wife, Shannon, of Owensboro, Ky., Michael Walton and Trey Barnett both of Greenville; three stepsons, K.P. Raymond and his wife, Corrie, Ron Jacob Raymond and Tylor Raymond all of Beaver Dam; one daughter, Erica Rachel Loomis and her husband, John Michael, of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Jenna Raymond of Beaver Dam; his mother Anna Marie Whitfield Ferguson of Gaithersburg, Md.; four grandchildren, Corbin James, Cadence Marie Loomis, Connor Wayne Whitfield and Zoey Scarlett Whitfield; several stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Henryetta “Hinky” Havens of Hartford, Wallisa McGraw and Agnes Whitfield both of Henderson, Ky., and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until the time of the services on Saturday.

The family request expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, 1302 Frederica Street, Owensboro, Ky. 42301
