Phyllis June Pence, 63, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. She was born on April 20, 1950, in Owensboro, Ky., to the late Samuel Dexter Smith and Minnie Margaret Clark Smith.

She retired after many years of service as a pretrial officer with the Kentucky Courts and GRADD. She was a generous person that loved spending time with her family and helping others.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Smith.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Pence of Owensboro; two brothers, James Smith and John Owen; two sisters, Ruby Hoffmann and her husband, Charlie, and Violet Fields and her husband, Ed, as well as, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home, with Bro. Duane Morris officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Old Bethel Church Cemetery in Ohio County.
