Martine Sutherland Johnson, 82, of Horse Branch, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Beaver Dam Nursing & Rehab. She was born Dec. 4, 1930, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Preston and Laura “Bea” Wells Geary.
She was an assembly line worker for Cowden MFG.
Beside her parents she was preceded in the death by her first husband, Robert Sutherland; two grandsons, Rastas Sutherland and Brian Hughes and two brothers, Leslie Geary and Estil Geary.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Johnson of Horse Branch; one son, Randell Sutherland of Caneyville; four daughters, Donna Morris and Pauline Veteto both of Horse Branch, Katherine Hughes of Beaver Dam and Stella Mudd of Caneyville; two brothers, Preston Geary of Owensboro and Gleanie Geary of Horse Branch; four sisters, Betty Roy of Owensboro, Shirley Woolen of Grayson County, Ky., Sadie Geary of Indianapolis, and Violet Burden of Horse Branch. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Sonny Whitely officiating. Burial will be in Greenbriar Cemetery near Pleasant Ridge. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
