Winston Ray Kuykendall, 88, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013, at the Ohio County Hospital. He was born on Nov. 23, 1924 in Centertown, Ky., to the late Frank Vernon Kuykendall and Louisa Coffman Kuykendall.He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II, and retired from the Kentucky State Police in Frankfort, Ky., in 1979. He was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Vernon Kuykendall on Jan. 1, 2001, and Winston Maxwell Kuykendall on May 21, 2012.
Survivors include his wife Jeane Searcy Kuykendall of Beaver Dam; a daughter-in-law, Mary Frances Kuykendall of Allen, Texas; three grandchildren, Clinton Paul Kuykendall, Alexander “Alex” Kuykendall and Brandon Hilton Kuykendall, and a sister, Martha Mitchell of Morgantown. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home with Rev. Don McGuire officiating. Burial will follow at Centertown Cemetery with full military honors by the Wesley C. Phelps Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday and from 10 a.m until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
