Imogene Coleman Taylor, 81, of Beaver Dam, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. She was born July 28, 1931, to the late John and Minnie Coleman.
She was a faithful member of Rockport Baptist Church in Rockport, Ky., where she served as church clerk. She was a homemaker, a member of the Democratic Party where she served as party officer and a member of the board; she was a member of the Ohio County Hospital Auxiliary, City Clerk for Rockport for 20 years and an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball fan.
Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ishmel “Cute” Taylor, who passed away, July 1, 1981. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie Taylor and Ishmel Taylor, Jr.; two brothers, Jack Coleman and Clarence Coleman and one infant sister.
Survivors include one son, Anthony (Laura) Taylor of Owensboro; four daughters, Iva Jean (Jan) Embry of Athens, Tenn., Susan (Bubby) Hines of Centertown, Cheryl (Dr. Jonny) Shrewsbury and Lawana (Jeff) Nauman both of Beaver Dam. Imogene was blessed with 18 grandchildren, Jon Taylor, Nicole Laek, Tim Berry, Christa Hines, Shannon Kuegel, Joel Hines, Jordan Hines, Chris Taylor, Tiffany Taylor, Nicole Bowling, Ryan Taylor, Courtney James, Meredith Bordas, Jonathan Shrewsbury, Amanda Hartzell, Mallory Baize, Jason Phillips, and Michael Phillips, and 29 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at William L. Danks Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Brownd officiating. Burial will be in Mason Cemetery in Rockport, Ky. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
