Charles Shrull “Junior,” 82, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab. He was born on Feb. 24, 1931, in Lewisburg, Ky., to the late Charles and Mamie Pogue Shrull.
Junior was a member of Centertown Baptist Church and was a Kentucky Colonel. He had worked at Evansville Stockyards, at the Ohio County Courthouse in the PVA Office for many years and retired from Big Rivers Security. Junior ran a slaughterhouse in Centertown for many years. He was the World Champion Sheep Shearer in 1955.
Junior was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Shrull in 2000. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Willie, Rueben, Burley, Claude, Clyde, Homer and Daytron Shrull.
Survivors include two sons, Steve (Linda) Shrull of Centertown and Kermit Shrull of Waverly, Ky.; three sisters, Ella Desper, Nina Murphy and Dorothy James; five grandchildren, Chris (Courtney) Shrull, Lisa (Keith) Richardson, Nicholas (Erin) Shrull, Cassidy (Jonathan) Kirk and Michael Shrull and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will follow inWalton Creek Cemetery near Centertown.
Friends may visit with the family Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 p.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
