Dottie Embry Carter, 90, of Hartford, died Sunday March 17, 2013, at her residence. She was born in Baizetown, Ky., July 3, 1923, to the late Cord Embry and Millie Embry.
Mrs. Carter was a member of Abundant Life Church in Beaver Dam, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband Estil Carter on Sept. 12, 1993; two brothers, Alvie Embry and Emmitt Embry; two sisters, Maudie Mae Drulen and Stella White and two great-grandchildren, Hannah Shephard and Tyler Shephard
Survivors include one son, Pastor Charles Shephard and his wife, Sue, of Hartford; four grandsons, Jeff, Keith, Marty and Dennis Shephard; two granddaughters, Tammy Shephard Compton and Jill Shephard Uzzle; 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford with Bro. Darrin McCugh officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery.
