JTBolingJ. T. (Jimmy) Boling, Jr., age 64, of Hartford, Ky., passed away at his home on Saturday, March 16, 2013, with his loving family at his side. Mr. Boling was born in Hartford on Jan. 18, 1949, to J.T. Boling, Sr., and the late Mable Keith Boling.

He retired as a Lieutenant with the Hartford Police Department after 27 and one half years of service. On Feb. 20, 2010, Mr. Boling received a double lung transplant giving him a gift of life that allowed him to share more precious time with his family. It was at this time he became involved as an advocate for organ donation through the organization entitled Trust for Life.

He was a member of the Hartford Christian Church, the Hartford Masonic Lodge #675 and he served as chairman of the Ohio County Fair Board for over 20 years where he helped revive the Ohio County Fair in 1980. Mr. Boling was a Junior Pro Basketball coach, and an assistant coach for the Ohio County Lady Eagles from 1995-1996. He was preceded in death by his mother Mable Keith Boling on June 15, 1981.

Mr. Boling is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karen Fisher Boling of Hartford; two daughters, Shannon Boling Kirtley and her husband Michael of Beaver Dam and Melissa Anne Boling of Louisville; four grandchildren, Brock Kirtley, Jack Kirtley, Caroline Kirtley and Ike Kirtley; two brothers, Mark Boling of Danville, Illinois and Charles Boling and his wife Lori of Hartford; one step-brother Damon Snyder and his wife Janet of Lexington and one step-sister Holly Snyder Reneer and her husband Rex of Hartford; his father, J. T. Boling, Sr. and his wife Jackie of Hartford.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at the Hartford Christian Church in Hartford with Bro. David R. Cordrey and Joey Minor officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at the Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford and again Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford.
