Ira “Russell” McDaniel, 66, of Beaver Dam, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at his home. He was born May 5, 1946. to the late Ira and Alma McDaniel.
He attended Cromwell Methodist Church and worked 30 years and retired from Peabody Coal Company as a belt mechanic at Camp 9 Prep plant and previously worked at Alston 4 and Camp 2 underground mines.
He was a member of the Southern Kentucky Street Rods Club in Bowling Green and enjoyed going to street rod car shows. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races cheering on Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Junior. He loved having his grandchildren come to visit and riding them in the neighborhood on his golf cart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Alma Hall McDaniel, his sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Everett Peech and two brothers, Joe McDaniel and Roger McDaniel.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Brenda Goff McDaniel of Beaver Dam; two sons, Jonathan McDaniel and wife Angie of Bowling Green and Michael McDaniel and wife Melissa of Horse Branch; five grandchildren, Zach and Cannon McDaniel of Bowling Green and Ty, Makenzie and Gunnar McDaniel of Horse Branch; sister-in-law, Lillian McDaniel of Beaver Dam; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Warren and Pat Skinnemoen of Winchester, Ky., and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Kathy Raymer of Cromwell.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Jesse Tichenor officiating and Larry Peech assisting. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
