James D. Martin, 90, of Olaton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. He was born March 3, 1922, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Elijah and Nellie Foreman Martin.
He was of Baptist Faith and was a self-employed house painter.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Gene Martin, Willie Martin, Jess Martin, Carl Martin and Maxi Martin and one sister, Elva Lacy.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years Mormadeen Bratcher Martin of Olaton; one daughter, Greta (Dewayne) Johnson of Horse Branch; three brothers, Ray Martin of LaGrange, Ky., A.D. Martin of Indianapolis, Ind., and Earl Martin of Owensboro. Mr. Martin was blessed with three grandchildren, Travis (Kelsey) Johnson of Lexington, Ky., Kelli (Andrew) Jones of Farmington, Ky., and Brent Johnson of Horse Branch.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Bobby Renfrow officiating. Burial will be in Olaton Cemetery in Olaton. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
