Elgan ‘Bud’ Cessna

ElganBudCessnaElgan E. “Bud” Cessna, 93, of Centertown died Wednesday Jan. 23, 2013, at Professional Care Health & Rehab in Hartford.  He was born in Powderly, Ky., to the late Thomas Robert and Edmonia Murphy Cessna.

He was a foreman at R.B. Richardson Company, he was a coal miner, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of Ohio County American Legion Post 55 and he was a member of Centertown United Methodist Church.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amelia Joyce Suggs.

Survivors include his wife Anna Ruth Stom Cessna; a son, David Edward (Tonia) Cessna of Centertown; three daughters, Rita (Glenn) Stewart of Centertown, Linda Margolin of Tamarac, Fla., and Janet (Robert) Cook of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, J.W. (Loraine) Cessna of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, June Dennis of Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Chelsie Cessna, Alisha (Jon) Gray, Danielle Cessna, Elizabeth (Kevin) Boner, Tristam (Kris) Stewart, Joyce (Dean) Stewart Miller, Matthew (Lori) Stewart, Joel Stewart, Daniel Stewart, Ashley Margolin-Ferry and Lindsay (Rico) Rincon and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery near Echols.  Military honors will be presented by the Pfc Wesley Phelps Ohio County Honor Guard.
