Jerry M. Allen, 70, of Hartford, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at his residence. He was born to a Kentucky pioneering family in Owensboro, Ky., the son of the late Buford Milton Allen and Susie Barnett Allen.
He retired from Daramic Inc., in Owensboro, Boise-Cascade and Lockheed Martin both in Orlando, Fla., he was a member of Barnetts Creek Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona Munson Allen of Hartford; one son, Jerry “Jason” Allen of Hartford; two daughters, Arsula Emmick and her husband, Chris, of Beaver Dam, and Mechille Allen of Cadiz, Ky.; five grandchildren, Braden and Riley Allen, Jacob, Lucas and Elizabeth Emmick; two brothers, Larry B. Allen of Hartford, Ky., and Ronnie J. Allen of Winter Haven, Fla.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Barnetts Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Howard and Rev. Wiley Wooten officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at Miller-Shapmire funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with full military honors by Wesley C. Phelps Honor Guard.
