Jeanette Westerfield Baxley

Jeanette Westerfield Baxley, 8o, of Hartford passed away Dec. 3, 2012, at the Professional Care Health and Rehab Center in Hartford. She was born Dec. 20, 1931, in Ohio County to the late James Aubrey and Virginia Gillim Westerfield.

She was a cosmetologist and worked out of a beauty shop in her home for many years.  She retired from Green River Area Development District where she worked with the Senior Citizens home delivered  meals program in Ohio County.

She was a member of the Hartford Christian Church where she was an active member until her health declined.  She served as a youth sponsor and active member for many years at her previous church in Whiting, Ind., where she lived for many years.  She also was a former member of the Ohio County Piecemakers Quilt Club.  She was an excellent cook and a very hospitable hostess.  She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed piecing many beautiful quilts.  She also enjoyed gardening, canning and reading.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and a caring family member and friend.  She always made time for anyone who was in need.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers in law, Duff Gray of Owensboro and Bill Boyd of Madisonville and a step grandson, Samuel Snell. She is also survived by her former husband Wendell Baxley.

Jeanette is survived by one daughter, Alice and husband Coy St.Clair; two sons, Charles Dennis Baxley and his wife Brenda and Chris Baxley all of Hartford; five beloved grandchildren, Coy III “Colt” and Collin St.Clair, Brian and Shaun Baxley and Kimberly Mitchell; four great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Gray of Owensboro and June Boyd of Madisonville.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will follow in Sunnydale Cemetery near Hartford.  Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until funeral time on Wednesday.  Condolences may be sent to bevilbrosfuneralhomes.com.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Robert M. Allen Memorial Scholarship Fund (for Bible College Students) New Life Christian Church, 1829 Central Ave.  Whiting, Ind., 46394.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
