Thomas M. “Tom” Simpson, 88, of Rosine, passed away at home on Sept. 24, 2012. Tom was born in Butler County on April 23, 1924 son of the late Guy Willard and Lillie Jane Johnson Simpson.
He was of the Baptist faith, he was retired from Peabody Coal Ken Underground Mine and a member of UMWA Local 23. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife Ruby, three sons, two grandsons, a granddaughter; brothers, Oscar, Floyd, Sam, Audley, Orvel and George and sisters, Gladys, Gradie and Gracie Jewel.
Survivors include six children, Marcia Faye Mills(Lonnie), Thomas Michael(Jenetta), Judy Ann Bryant (Bill), Stevie Russell (Lynn), Barbara Dixon (Donald) and Delena Jane Newcome; grandchildren, Rhonda Nell Read, Pee Wee Morris (Sylvia), Donald Shelton, Michelle Simpson, Ben Newcome, Dougie Ison (Jennifer), Jeremy Allan, Randy Casey, Ruby Ann Chavez (Juan), Lillie Jean, Jessica and Candy; Brother, Gordon Simpson and many loving nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will follow in Nelson Creek Cemetery in Muhlenberg County. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
