
He was a member of Oak Grove Church of God in Cromwell and was retired from the Ohio County Board of Education and was a self-employed contractor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Gilstrap and Alma Baize Gilstrap; a brother, Willard Gilstrap; a sister, Lulabell Morris and a grandson, Timothy Gilstrap.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Betty J. Bryant Gilstrap of Cromwell; two sons, Cecil (Cheryl) Gilstrap of Cromwell and Tim Gilstrap of Cromwell; two daughters, Linda (Gary) Kessinger of Beaver Dam and Anita (Tim) Turner of Paducah; one sister, Willodean Cardwell of Cromwell; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Sam) Ford, Jared Gilstrap, Jimmy (Crystal) Kessinger, Robert Kessinger, Tyler Kessinger, Madisyn Gilstrap, Brennen Gilstrap and Justin (Chelsie) Miller and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Steve Leach and Rev. David Calvert officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Cromwell. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
