Roger Eugene “Gene” Warren

Roger Eugene “Gene” Warren, 82, of Beaver Dam passed away Monday, June 25, 2012, at his residence. He was born August 14, 1929 in McHenry to the late William Orville and Lula Pearl Morris Warren.

He was retired from Allison, a division of General Motors after 30 years. He was an avid gardener, Kentucky Wildcat and Ohio Co. Eagles fan. He followed closely all the activities of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed cooking and was happiest surrounded by family and friends. He was a graduate of the class of 1948 Central Park High School in McHenry and was an All State Basketball Honorable Mention in 1948.
 
Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William O. Warren, JR., three sisters, Pansy M. Warren, Geneva J. Ross, and Claudean Lupear
 
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Gaynell Heflin Warren of Beaver Dam; two sons, Dr. Michael G. Warren and his wife, Sandy of Ferdiand, Ind., and John L. Warren and his wife Beth of Fayetteville, Ga.; one daughter, Julia W. Sumner and husband, Mitchell of  Greenville; one brother, Ralph Warren of Radcliff, Ky. Mr. Warren was blessed with ten grandchildren, Ryan M. Warren, Sara (Brian) Hicks, John M. (Stephanie) Warren, Wesley Anne Warren, Major Joshua L. (Jana) Warren, Ashlie R. (Brian) McCartney, Carrie S. (Jon) Ezzell, Kyle M. (Ashley) Sumner, Kent M. Sumner, and Cameron Jean Sumner, and eight great grandchildren, Owen M. Hicks, Liam T. Hicks, Emma K. Warren, John L. Warren, Cara M. McCartney, Adeline E. Ezzell, Eli S. Ezzell, and Claire L. Ezzell.
 
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 28, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Harold Carman officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday and 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
