Kathryn “Kathy” Hardesty, 57, of Owensboro, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born Dec. 3, 1954, in Owensboro to G.A. Hoover Jr. and Peggy Murphy Hoover.
She was of the Church of Christ Faith and worked as a Field Enumerator for the United States Department of Agriculture.
She enjoyed cooking and writing her own cookbook. She had a very unique sense of humor, and extraordinary natural talent for singing and playing the piano. She was a pleasure to be around and will be sadly missed by her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Murphy Hoover and her brother Patrick L. Hoover.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Hardesty of Owensboro; one son, Jeff Hardesty (Melanie Rice) of Owensboro; her father, G.A. Hoover Jr. of Philpot; two brothers, Danny Hoover of Owensboro and Pat (Heather) Hoover of Philpot; her grandmother, Kathryn Swihart of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; one niece, Allison Hoover; one nephew Michael Hoover; her mother-in-law, Martha Mattingly of Owensboro and numerous aunts, uncles, brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 1, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Pastor Doug Grant officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 11 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the Funeral Home.
