Elizabeth Carolyn Kirk, 89, of Centertown, passed away, Wednesday, May 2, 2012, surrounded by her loving family and the devoted nursing staff at Professional Care Health and Rehab in Hartford. She was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Centertown, Ky., to the late Thomas and Myrtle Bell Bennett.

She was a member of Centertown Baptist Church in Centertown, a homemaker, former owner/operator of Kirk’s Grocery in Centertown, and a member of American Legion Post 296 auxiliary.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Kirk who passed away Nov. 29, 2009. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Cora Bell James and two brothers, Eugene Bennett and Larry Bennett.

Survivors include one son, Billy Ray “Melissa” Kirk of Waco, Texas; four daughters, Mary Lee “Norton” Kious, Arlene Fulkerson, and Julie “Harold” Chinn, all of Centertown, and Sherry “Shotty” Curtis of Echols; one brother, R.T. “Sue” Bennett of Colorado; three sisters, Maxine “Drexell” Heflin of Indiana, Wanda “Tony” Whitehead of Flora, Ill., and Janita “Bill” Holladay of Beaver Dam. Mrs. Kirk was blessed with eight grandchildren, Cindy Likens, Lisa Patton, Angie McMeen, Nicole Bateman, Bobby Curtis, Shannon Curtis, Brad Kessinger, and Elizabeth Render, 19 great-grandchildren and two beloved sister-in-law’s, Ruth Bennett and Joan Bennett.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 6, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Walton Creek Cemetery near Centertown. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday and 9 a.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
