George W. “Dub” Brown

George W. “Dub” Brown, 84, of Rockport, Ky., passed away, Sunday, April 15, 2012, at his residence. He was born May 23, 1927, in Rosine to the late Thomas Henry and Ora Marie Craig Brown. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a Kentucky Colonel, deacon at Hartford Church of God and a custodian for Germania Manchore in Evansville.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dwight David Brown, who passed away June 20, 2009.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara Herring Brown of Rockport; five sons, Sonny Brown of Clay, Ky., Johnny Brown of Caneyville, Tommy Brown of Dixon, Lester Brown of Morgantown and Chuck Brown of Evansville, Ind.; two daughters, Susie Sallee of Evansville and Mona Gail Alvey of Rockport; one sister, Bertie Mae Tyro of Cromwell. Mr. Brown was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Earnest Whitely officiating. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery near Rosine. With military honors provided by Wesley Phelps Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday and 9 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
