Walter Thomas Chapman, 92, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at his home. He was born on December 23, 1919, in McHenry, Ky., to the late John Harlen and Susan Ellen Southard Chapman.
He retired as payroll clerk for Peabody Coal Company and was a member of Masonville Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Leah Chapman; daughter, Rebecca Chapman Blincoe; brothers, Herman and Everett Chapman and sisters, Ruth Smith, Belle Fulkerson and Eva Chapman. Mr. Chapman is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ernestine Southard Casey Chapman; two sons, Terry Chapman (Theresa Harris) of Washington and Ernie Casey (Judy) of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Jeffery Casey (Janice), Mark Casey (Jessica), Casey Blincoe (Shannon), Dalaesha Harris, Richard Harris, Ashley Harris, and Amber Harris; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Eskridge of Beaver Dam and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
