Robert Dale “Frog” Campbell, 65, of 2679 State Route 1414, Hartford passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on February 10, 1947, in Hartford to the late Robert Ford Campbell and Virginia Hobdy Campbell.
He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Campbell was employed as a linemen for private electrical contractors in West Virginia and a brakeman for the CSX Railroad.
Mr. Campbell enjoyed many hobbies, including woodworking in his shop where he loved being creative with his tools while building things, playing checkers and cards with the boys, always looking for a good bargain to trade and no matter the circumstance, he always made you laugh, leaving you with a smile on your face. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Doug Campbell in 1959, David Campbell in 1962, and Donald Campbell in 2008.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Virginia Delawder Campbell of Hartford; two sons, Lotus Dale Campbell of McHenry and Markel James Campbell of Hartford; two daughters, Patricia Scott of Hartford and Shari Heath of Paw Paw, West Virginia; six grandchildren, Paula Richardson, Virginia Gray, Adriane Watt, Keisha Campbell, Alex Campbell, and Leslie Campbell; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emma Richardson; three brothers, Dan Campbell of Dundee, Michael Campbell of Rockport, and Kevin Campbell of Dundee and three sisters, Dorothy Campbell of Hartford, Donna Barnett of Utica, and Robin Warren of Hartford.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home with Bro. Allen Howard and Bro. Kenny Shephard officiating. Burial will be in the Shown Cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home.
