Kenneth R. Smith, age 73, of Beaver Dam, passed away March 7, 2012, at Ohio County Hospital. He was born Dec. 31, 1938, in Denver, Colo., to the late Clarence and Eva Smith. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Sharon Lee, and his 10 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his son Kenny Smith (Suzann) of Beaver Dam; daughters, Kimmi Fulkerson of Beaver Dam and Krissi Lutz (Rob) of Nashville; sister, Jean Shelton of Yuba City, Calif., as well as seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Kenneth lived for and loved his family. He was still singing his favorite songs while in the hospital just prior to his death. He was a member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church and a member of the choir. He will be remembered for having an amazing singing voice. He was an excellent carpenter and retired coal miner.
Kenneth was an Army veteran and a Kentucky Colonel. He loved to cook and entertain his family and friends. Kenneth also loved to watch cooking shows and infomercials on TV. As such he had an amusing array of pots, pans, and cookware.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with John Cashion officiating. Burial will be at Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Hendersonville, Tenn., immediately following the service. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
