BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Beaver Dam’s annual Christmas Festival & Parade is set for this weekend, Dec. 1-2, in Downtown Beaver Dam. This year’s event will also serve as the final celebration for the city’s Sesquicentennial.
“We have a big Christmas celebration planned with rides, contests, food, toy giveaways, entertainment, our annual parade, and more. We hope to see downtown Beaver Dam full of families enjoying the season and all of the activities,” said Shelby Whitely, executive director of the Beaver Dam Tourism Commission.
The festival starts Friday at 5 p.m. with the lighting of the city’s Christmas Tree, a Christmas cookie walk, a toy giveaway, and carriage and carnival rides.
Saturday, vendors open at 10 a.m. Additional activities this weekend include live music by Billy Wood & The Classic Country Band, the Jingle Bell Jog 5K, and the holiday dessert contest.
Both days will include Santa Claus, Christmas toy giveaways, carnival rides, horse and carriage rides, hot chocolate, make-your-own-d’mores over the fire, and an abundance of food options.
The festival’s highlight is the annual Christmas Parade, which begins Saturday at 5 p.m. Former Beaver Dam Mayors Bob Cox, David Taylor, and Mary Pate will serve as Grand Marshals of the parade. The parade will be livestreamed for the fourth consecutive year on the Beaver Dam Tourism Commission’s Facebook page.
Whitley continued, “One of our favorite events throughout the year is our Toy Giveaway on Friday & Saturday at the Christmas Festival. We love being able to give back to children in our community. It’s a special time.”
