KSP Post 16 ‘Cram the Cruiser’ food drive @ Walmart

HENDERSON, Ky. — The Kentucky State Police Post 16 has announced it will hold a “Cram the Cruiser” food drive event in Ohio County from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2.

KSP troopers, officers and volunteers will be at the Beaver Dam Walmart to help folks “Cram the Cruiser” with non-perishable food items to help local families with holiday meals.

Come out and help those in need have a happy holiday season.

Walmart is at 1701 N. Main St. in Hartford.

Annual Beaver Dam Downtown Christmas Festival @ Downtown Beaver Dam

BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Beaver Dam’s annual Christmas Festival and Parade is set for this weekend, Dec. 2-3, in downtown Beaver Dam. This year’s Christman event will also serve as the kickoff for the city’s sesquicentennial celebration in 2023.

The festival kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, with the Christmas tree lighting, the Christmas cookie walk, a special performance by the Courthouse Players on the 2nd street stage, and a reception unveiling the “Doors To Our Past” exhibit at Beaver Dam City Hall.

Saturday, Dec. 3, will begin at 10 a.m. and will feature live music by Billy Wood & The Classic Country Band, an ugly sweater contest, the Jingle Bell Jog 5K, vendor & craft booths and the holiday dessert contest.

Both days will include Santa Claus, Christmas toy giveaways, carnival rides, horse and carriage rides, hot chocolate, make-your-own-s’mores over our fire, an abundance of food options, classic Christmas cartoons playing on a giant movie screen, and more.

The festival’s highlight is the annual Christmas Parade which begins at 5 p.m. Saturday. Heather French Henry will serve as the grand marshall of the parade. Special guests include the 100th Army Marching Band out of Fort Knox and long-time Ohio County High School Band Director Joe Van Roberts. For the third consecutive year, the parade will be live-streamed on Facebook, hosted by Steve Vest, publisher of Kentucky Monthly, and Molly Eric.

Henry is a sought-after speaker and emcee and has spoken nationally for over 20 years for organizations such as The National Press Club, National Veterans Conferences, National Student Organizations, etc. She has emceed many national events such as the Medal of Honor Society Convention, Miss America Competitions, Wreaths Across America, & Galas, etc.

The 100th Army Band from Fort Knox, Kentucky, is under the command of Chief Warrant 3 Chad Alward and drum major Sergeant First Class Bryan Brown.

BD Woman’s Club Christmas Home Tour

BEAVER DAM, Ky. — The Beaver Dam Woman’s Club will host its Christmas Home Tour from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.

Tickets for the event are $10 and can be purchased at Rice’s Pharmacy in Beaver Dam. Rice’s Pharmacy is at 1209 N Main St. in Beaver Dam.

Ticket holders will enjoy a tour of six beautiful homes adorned with stunning Christmas decor. An added plus this year is a drive-thru tour of Twin Island Trails showcasing outdoor lights with Santa Claus and the Grinch. Twin Island Trails is at 4376 Cedar Grove Rd. in Hartford.

In Beaver Dam, the tour will visit the homes of Bob Legler; Steve and Jennifer Segers; and Dan and Lauren Jackson.

In Hartford, the tour will visit the homes of Kevin and Melissa Palermino; Tabitha Hall and Jamie Lindsey; Darrel and Kechia Smith; and James and Susan Fulkerson.
