ROCKPORT, Ky. — Joe Brent Grider, 72, of Rockport, passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1953, in Ceralvo, Kentucky, to the late Joe Grider and Bertha Santale “Sandy” Allen Grider.
Joe Brent was a proud farmer all of his life.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by two stepchildren, Scott W. Risley and Dawna Turley, and a brother, Mikel R. Grider.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Joyce Grider, of Rockport; children, Jessica (Misty) Dyer-Gwenlyn, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Joe (Tabatha) Grider Jr., of Centertown, Kentucky, and Amanda Westerfield, of Horse Branch, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Addison Westerfield, Felix Dyer, Dwayne Hamilton, Daniel Hamilton, Quila Brewer, and Dakota Dalton; brother, Dennie (Shelia) Grider, of Centertown; as well as several nieces and nephews; and his best dog, Doggie Doodle.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at William L. Danks Funeral Home with Rev. Glendon Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Star Cemetery. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the funeral home.
