LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Wind Advisory for Ohio County and much of the surrounding area. The Wind Advisory goes into effect at 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, and expires at 1 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.

According to the NWS, widespread rain will move into our area overnight and may be locally heavy towards morning.

The remnants of Helene will impact our region through the weekend, most notably early Friday through Friday night. Widespread rainfall between two and four inches and gusty winds between 30 to 40 mph will be most common. However, localized rainfall amounts over four inches and isolated gusts over 40 mph could be realized. There is also a non-zero brief tornado threat, although confidence is very low.

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages.

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
