MORGANTOWN, Ky. — Richard A. “Chicken” Cooper, 70, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family. Richard was born on Monday, May 26, 1952, in the Neafus Community of Butler County, Kentucky, to the union of the late Tildon Singleton and Edna Faustine Haynes Cooper.

He was a member of Oak Ridge General Baptist Church and an electrician for many years. Chicken enjoyed cars, racing, watching basketball games and spending time with family and friends.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother Gary Cooper.

Richard A. “Chicken” Cooper is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sharon Kassinger Cooper, of Morgantown; five children, David Scott Strasburger (Amanda), of Roundhill, Kentucky, Jennifer Cooper Jones (Tony), of Falls of Rough, Kentucky, Jonathan Wayne Cooper (Jason), of London, Kentucky, Michaela Cooper Corley (Jessie), of Horse Branch, Kentucky, and Lauren Cooper Parrigan (Ben), of Morgantown; eight grandchildren Taya Davis (Dwight), of Roundhill, Kenna Strasburger (fiancé Tim), of Roundhill, Tyler Baldwin (Chasity), of New Albany, Indiana, Donnie Campbell, of Greenville, Indiana, Ericka Campbell Cross (Bobby), of New Albany, Indiana, Cash Corley, of Horse Branch, Kentucky, Caroline Corley, of Horse Branch, Kentucky, and Shelby Parrigan, of Morgantown; five great-grandchildren; five siblings, J.C. Cooper (Martine), of Leitchfield, Kentucky, Lindell Cooper (Carolyn), of Louisville, Kentucky, Christine Gary (David), of Louisville, LaVonne Barnett, of Morgantown, and Jimmy Cooper (Kathy), of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. with Bro. Joe Pharris and Bro. Gary Embry officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 12, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday 8 a.m. until funeral time at 11 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
