LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Special Weather Statement for Ohio County due to excessive heat forecasted for this afternoon.

Heat Index readings of 100 to 105 are possible this afternoon. Heat indices may be slightly higher tomorrow.
If you are outside this afternoon, drink plenty of water and spend as much time in the shade as possible. Do not leave children or pets inside vehicles, look before you lock.
Hot and oppressively humid weather will return Wednesday. Afternoon peak heat index readings of 100 to 105 will be possible, especially along and west of Interstate 65.
Showers and thunderstorms will be possible Thursday through Sunday. A few of the stronger storms could produce locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds, especially on Thursday and Friday.
