BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Ricky D. Groves, 62, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on June 5, 1957, in Greenville, Kentucky, to the late Elze and Wilma Phipps Groves.
Ricky worked as a coal miner for Peabody Coal Company and Green River Coal Company. He was a member of Place of Hope Church in Rockport, Kentucky, and was a member of UMWA Local #1793.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Doyle Groves, and one sister, Carole Steele.
Survivors include his daughter, Misty Groves (Chris) Lindsey, of Bloomington, Indiana; one brother, Bennie Groves, of Beaver Dam; one granddaughter, Aubrey Groves; one great-grandson, Wyatt Thomas Ploughe; and nephews and nieces, Ben (Lindsay) Groves, Samantha (Brandon) Black, Victor (Keshia) Steele, and Lisa (Dean) Hope.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Jeff Evans officiating. Friends may visit with his family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
