OHIO COUNTY, Ky. — John Wayne Iler, 67, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born March 19, 1952, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to Eula Richardson Iler and the late Herman C. Iler.
Mr. Iler retired from Peabody Coal Company and was a farmer. He was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and a United States Army veteran.
Mr. Iler was preceded in death by his father.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Eula “Sug” Iler, of Cromwell, Kentucky; three children, Jason (Loretta) Iler, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; Misty Embry (David Renfrow), of Horse Branch, Kentucky, and April Cardwell (Brian Dowell), of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren, Anna Marie (Josh) Watson, Shianna Clark, Ashley Iler, Justin Iler, Tara Beth Embry, Haley Cardwell, and Kane Cardwell; two great-grandchildren, Saxton Hoover and Bristol Watson; and three siblings, Winnie Clark, Rod Iler and Rachel Iler.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church near Beaver Dam with Bro. Ricky Taylor and Bro. Derwin Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with Mr. Iler’s family Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church.
