BEAVER DAM, Ky. — The Main Place Makers’ Shoppe & Studios, formerly Ohio County Artists’ Guild, along with the Beaver Dam Tourism Commission, will host the Kentucky Arts Council’s traveling exhibit titled “The Kentucky Veterans Project.” The exhibit will run from May 4 to May 31.

This exhibit features artwork by Kentucky’s military veterans and loved ones of those who have served. The Kentucky Veterans Project exhibit was on display in the Kentucky state capitol for one month before beginning its yearlong tour around the Commonwealth in December 2018.

“We are so excited to have this exhibit coming to our studios in Beaver Dam,” said The Main Place coordinator Terri Minton. “I had an opportunity to see the exhibit a few weeks ago and it is so impressive,” Minton continued. “The art work is amazing and we are pleased to be able to help share it with residents in this part of the state.”

Beaver Dam Mayor Paul Sandefur is also happy to see the art exhibit come to town.

“We saw a notice about the exhibit last fall and contacted the Kentucky Arts Council about the possibility of hosting at a site in Beaver Dam,” Sandefur said. “We are thrilled we were able to do so in May as the city’s Strawberry Festival is held over the Memorial Day weekend and one of the primary events of the festival is a Veteran’s recognition program actually held on Memorial Day. Of course, what better place to host such an exhibit than at our local arts organization.”

The Main Place Makers’ Shoppe & Studio is at 101 N. Main Street in Beaver Dam. The Shoppe will be open Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other open dates and special events in conjunction with the Veteran’s art exhibit will be announced soon.
