HARTFORD, Ky. — Robert Daniel “Bob” Black, 59, of Hartford, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at his home. Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Delores Maier Black and the late Marvin Black.

Bob was the owner of Black Construction in Hartford, loved UK sports, the Washington Redskins, was an avid fisherman, loved ice cream and was of the Catholic faith.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Black.

Survivors include his wife, the love of his life for 34 years, Sara Johnson Black; two daughters, Kaitlin (Corey) Glass and Jessika Black; his mother, Delores Maier Black; a brother, Brian (Jennifer) Black; three sisters, Barbara (Randy Hawks) Nevill, Betty (Jerry) Fields, and Bridget Sexton; his mother-in-law, Kay Johnson; sister-in-law, Keta Black; Chopper Warren longtime friend and superintendent of Black Construction; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam (which was built by Bob Black and Black Construction). Officiating will be Bro. Steve Leach and Bro. Lealin Geary. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The Family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Ohio County. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
