OWENSBORO, Ky. — Sue Carolyn Van Fleet, 85, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully Friday, June 22, 2018, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Mrs. VanFleet was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Pleasant Ridge, Kentucky (Daviess Co.), to the late Carroll and Lucy Wade.

Sue was a member of Third Baptist Church. She graduated from the former Tech High School in Owensboro and was employed at K-Mart (formerly Grants). Sue enjoyed cooking, visiting friends, shopping, and was an avid UK fan.

She was well-known for her kindness to others, her big smile, and loyalty to her friends. They will always remember her wonderful cakes and beautiful handwriting.

She was also preceded in death by the loves of her life, her husband, Bobby Van Fleet, and daughter, Janice (Jan) Van Fleet Mulligan.

Those left to cherish her memory include her cousin and special caregiver, Mary Pat Donlon and husband, Dee, of Hartford, Kentucky; cousin, Jim Williams and wife, Eunice; son-in-law, Carl Mulligan; beloved cat, Merry; several cousins and many loved friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Third Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Williams and Rev. Micah Spicer officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
