McHENRY, Ky. — Mamie Ruth Wilson Daugherty, 84, of McHenry, passed away at her home with her loving family by her side on Thursday, April 5, 2018. She was born Sept. 18, 1933, in Worley, Kentucky, to the late Walter and Ida Beatrice King Wilson.
Mamie was a member of McHenry Baptist Church where she was involved with the Quilters for Christ. She was a homemaker, loved to embroider and was an excellent cook; she made chicken and dumplings worth fighting over. Mrs. Daugherty loved everyone and was loved by all who knew her.
Aside from her parents, Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Daugherty; one son, Lester Daugherty; one brother, Alfred Wilson; and two sisters, Cora Waters and Lora Maxwell.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, five children, Chet Daugherty and his wife, Linda, of Utica, Kentucky, Linda Daugherty Hall, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Mary Daugherty, of Bowling Green, Brenda Jones and her husband, Larry, of Nortonville, Kentucky, and Bea Harris and her husband, Jeff, of Morganfield, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Tanya Daugherty, of Sturgis, Kentucky; and three sisters, Alice Erbaugh, of Corbin, Kentucky, Joan Smith, of Duck River, Tennessee, and Connie Kidd and her husband, Ronnie, of Stearns, Kentucky. Mamie was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. (EST) Monday, April 9, at Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home, 156 South Main Street, Whitley City, KY 42653, with Bro. Brent Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Angel Cemetery in Stearns, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Mrs. Daugherty’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.
