Thomas Dale ‘Tommy’ Sutherland

REYNOLDS STATION, Ky. — Thomas Dale “Tommy” Sutherland, 79, of Reynolds Station, died on Jan. 25, 2018, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on Feb. 10, 1938, in Pleasant Ridge, Kentucky, to the late Henry Monroe and Lucy Sadler Sutherland.

He worked in oil fields as an oil driller and previously was employed at Whitesville Lumber, Modern Welding, Owensboro Mercy Health Systems, and Hagan Construction. Tommy was a member of Lifeline Revival Center.

He is also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Towery Sutherland; a son, Thomas Ray Sutherland; brothers, Gene Sutherland and Charles Sutherland; a grandson, Andrew Smith; and a great-grandson, Teman Richards.

He is survived by sons; Tom Tom Southerland, of Pleasant Ridge, and Daniel Ray Sutherland, of Owensboro, Kentucky; his daughters, Sherry Lynn Sutherland and Michelle R. Sutherland, both of Reynolds Station, Rebecca Richards, of Fordsville, Kentucky, and Lisa Dale Sutherland, of Reynolds Station; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, James “Bobo” Sutherland and Coy Sutherland , both of Owensboro, Larry Joe Sutherland, of Fordsville, and Carl Sutherland, of Utica, Kentucky; two sisters, Juetta Holmes, of Utica, and Sue Ruby, of Paducah, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Cecil Funeral Home, Whitesville with burial following at Cates Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Family requests that expression of sympathies may take the form of donations to Lifeline Revival Center, 2808 W.
