HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — Goebel Morris, 84, of Horse Branch, joined his grandbaby in heaven on Dec. 19, 2017, at 11:23 a.m. He’s now holding Nicholas in his arms. Goebel passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in the White Run community of Ohio County, Kentucky, on Sept. 27, 1933, to the late James and Lorena Embry Morris. Goebel was a retired farmer. During his farming career he raised corn, soybeans, tobacco, beef cattle, and Belgian horses. Goebel was an avid UK basketball fan and he also enjoyed watching the WNBA.

He was of the Baptist faith. Goebel was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle and son.

In addition to his parents, Goebel was predeceased by his grandparents, Joseph and Mary Morris, and Enoch and Angela Embry, and several siblings.

Goebel is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Duncan Morris; devoted daughter, Penny Kathryn Morris Faulk; one brother, Richard Anderson Morris, and a host of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Earnest L. Whitely officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Goebel’s family from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
