CLAY, Ky. — Rev. Paul Allen Stone, 67, of Clay, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, Kentucky.

Paul worked at Dotiki Mines for 23 years. He became an ordained minister in May of 1987. Graduated from Andersonville Baptist Seminary with a Bachelors in Theology in May of 1995. He pastored at Oak Grove Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Lisman Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was currently pastoring at Providence Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Rosecreek Cumberland Presbyterian church, where he has pastored for over 20 years.

He worked for the City of Clay as Public Works Director for 14 years. In those 14 years, if you ever drove through the town around lunch time and saw a crowd gathered at the water house you knew something special was happening.

His blood was Blue and his heart was gold. He loved the Lord, his family, pizza burgers, antique tractors, UK basketball and westerns. Paul was a very unselfish and loved everyone he met. He was a legend. Anyone who had the privilege to meet him was touched by him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Veston and Modest Stone; one sister, Elizabeth Haner; one brother, Wayne Stone; and one great-granddaughter, Lilyan Kynslei Pitts.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Martha Stone, of Clay; two daughters, Bunny Heady (Richard), of Clay, and Stephanie Chrisman (Dave), of Henderson, Kentucky; one son, Steve Stone (Valerie), of Clay; three brothers, Howard Stone, of Hartford, Kentucky, Tom Stone, of Pinckneyville, Kentucky, and David Stone, of Dixon, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Jade Pitts (Ryan), Wesley Stone (Sara), Wade Cartwright (Cole), Sarah Reinhard (Frank), and Taylor Heady; six great-grandchildren, Landon Pitts, Embrey Stone, Emma Heady Newton, Kynslei Pitts, Katie Reinhard and Octavia Stone.

Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay with Bro. Bobby Hawkins and Billy Parrish. Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery in Wheatcroft, Kentucky. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 10, 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Vanover Funeral Home and 9 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
